Red Salmon and Washburn creeks are important salmon-producing tributaries of the Nisqually Delta and, together, represent the Land Trust's largest restoration project to date. After Washington Conservation Corps crews removed acres of blackberry and ivy, more than 200 volunteers replanted the site with some 2000 native trees and shrubs that will improve spawning habitat for chum salmon and rearing habitat for threatened Chinook and steelhead.
This restoration project is a cooperative undertaking in conjunction with Nisqually Delta restoration efforts by the Nisqually Tribe and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
