Volunteering to help restore Land Trust properties is a wonderful way to enjoy the outdoors and help protect important habitat. Join us and have a great time with conservation-minded friends.

Stewardship Opportunities

CALENDAR

- Weed control - Cut or pull weeds, typically as part of a work party.
- Plantings - plant native trees and shrubs to restore or rehabilitate disturbed areas (seasonal projects, fall through early spring).
- Special projects - build or take down fences, mow pasture or monitor the success of restoration projects.
- Naturalists - conduct enhancement or monitoring projects for water quality or species of concern such as salmon. Monitor, place and maintain bird boxes or conduct wildlife inventories (training provided by Nisqually Land Trust).
- Site monitoring - “Adopt” one or more sites to visit periodically, providing a presence on Land Trust lands and alerting staff to unwanted uses or things that need attention.
- Land stewards - Take a lead role in carrying out stewardship plans for Land Trust sites (training provided by the Land Trust).
Fundraising
- Events - volunteer for a variety of tasks that vary with the event.
- Recruit new members - help the land trust grow!
- Fundraising drives - help plan and prepare materials and publicity.
- Operations:
- Serve on our board.
- Provide expertise –legal, real estate, photography.
- Publicity—newsletters, website, press contacts.
- Office projects—mailings and special projects.
